Somebody to Love

This is another post I’ve been trying to figure out how to write…Yeah, it’s a ramble to make a point.

I’ve said before, and they know, this blog is specifically for some friends. It has a broader goal of trying to change perceptions. Those perceptions have to change so that things will change for my friends. The logic is a tiny bit circular. *sigh* I use the friends as examples to advance both goals…

I was listening to a song by Queen “Somebody to Love”. *editorial, I love Freddy’s voice and Bryan May’s guitar. I digress* The point of the song is that the guy just wants to love and be loved. That song sticks in my head because I spent many years of MY life believing it wouldn’t happen to me. It did and I’m married to a Lady that is the Love of My Life.

No one looks at my love and judges it. No one says that we should have children. *editorial, we married late in life for the first time each. THAT clock has ticked* No one would presume to tell us that we are wrong. No one would look into our house…*sigh*

I love Z to pieces. *editorial, I’m glad I’m married and she’s gay, otherwise, I’d have to consider moving someplace cold.* *grins* *again, I digress* People do look at her and judge her. They would go into her house and say she’s wrong.

Why?

What’s the difference between what she wants and what I want? What makes wanting “somebody to love” any different if you’re gay or straight? What makes one love “legitimate” and another not? The basic desire for love and security transcends all logic. I think, after our survival needs, it is the most important thing. It gives us the courage and strength to go on far past the point where we would quit. It inspires us to write. It has created Art and Music.

Like I’ve said before, I think Z is great. She’s a “neat” person. *pardon the fogieism* I hope she does find a love. I hope that lady realizes what a great Lady they’ve found. I hope Princess Charming rides off into the sunset with her Princess. *editorial, Z will probably object to being called a “princess” grins.* Y’all will never realize how happy I’d be for both of them.

*sigh*

Back to the point. Why do we, outsiders, presume to look into someone’s life and judge their love. We all need “somebody to love”. How ’bout  we try this new idea, Love and let Love. *bad paraphrase* Humans need love, gay humans, straight humans, married humans, single humans, young and old, we all need love. Who are we to decide someone else’s is wrong?

  1. This is good post. Very aptly written.

    According to Maya Angelou,
“The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart.”

Best Wishes for all your future posts. Looking forward to reading all of them 🙂

If you ever feel like, check this out : https://akritimattu.wordpress.com/2014/12/02/earthart-from-the-international-space-station-if-is-not-what-makes-one-stand-in-awe-of-our-colossal-planet-what-else-can/

I’d love your feedback on this 🙂

  2. I love Queen, Freddie and that song. We lost him all too soon! He was brilliant!!

I too good Z finds her love. We all deserve love (OK there are some scum who don’t)

I’m soon going to be 40. I’ve just lost what I thought was the love of my life, my soul mate. The healing is coming, it’s just slow.
My fear is I’m disabled. My legs were amputated when I was 4.5. I also have some other little medical problems (read – not so little).
Being born disabled, even today, many assume were asexual. Or at best that if we do find love then that person is extra special for loving us. Implying somehow we’re unlovable.

So I hope and pray that we all find love. We all deserve it (except the scum)

  3. I have a saying, “the most beautiful woman in the world is the one you look at and see ‘forever'”. I spent a very long time thiking I was not worth being loved. I was wrong. If she, my wife, had picked based on appearance, she’d have not picked me. What I see, from here is not your ability to walk. That’s the good thing about online. We see what people think. I am a firm believer, used to not be, that everyone has their someone.

  4. If anyone I know deserves love it’s Z. She’s may be tough as hell on the outside (she is ‘vertically challenged’ but she could take my 5’9″ ass down in a second…but let’s not tell her, shall we? Lol) but she has a huge heart. I pray she finds her love that sees what she has to offer. That appreciates her for exactly who she is. ♡

    1. I entirely agree. You read what I write about the Lady. She deserves every good thing and person this life has to offer. She deserves someone worth her and, again, if you read what I write, you know how high a value I put on her.
